FELDENKRAIS
METHOD
The
Feldenkrais method is an awareness of the body through movement, and
a global approach to the human being.
The
main expression of the activity of the nervous system is the
movement;
it is the bodily translation of intention. This is not only a work
on
the body but also an education of the kinesthetic sense leading to a
more
nuanced body awareness which, in turn, refines the functioning
of the
nervous system.
It
is therefore a question of creating the necessary conditions for the
nervous
system to enrich itself with new connections and thus allow a
better
adaptation of each person to the situation of the moment.
To
become aware of oneself, of one's body, through movement, is to
become
aware of the movement that one makes in all one's body
structure. It is to
become aware of the relationships between the
different parts of the body in
space, and this in the whole of the
action.
The
intention is to get organized in order to move with a minimum of
effort
and a maximum of efficiency, not only through muscle power,
but also
through increased awareness of how it works.
